Author: Jennifer

Subject: Language Arts

Objective: To improve spelling

Materials and Preparation: List of Spelling Words

Student Grouping: whole class

The Play: This game is played like "Duck, Duck, Goose." The students all sit in a big circle. The teacher picks a student and gives them a speling word. That student goes around the circle, tapping the other students heads while spelling out the word. When the student spells the entire word, this means "goose" and the tapped student must chase the other student around the circle and sit back in his spot. If tagged, the "goose" student must sit in the center for one turn.

Scoring: No scoring

Comments or Variations: This can also be "Phonemic Awareness Goose" if the students says sounds instead of letters.
