Used in many college courses, Positive
Classroom Discipline describes a non-adversarial
approach to managing student disruptions that combines
high behavioral standards with personal responsibility.
The majority of the book describes skills of classroom
management, and these sections have been updated
in Tools
for Teaching. However, Positive Classroom
Discipline goes beyond the classroom to describe
discipline management at the school site level.
The latter chapters deal with topics as diverse
as the school discipline code, the management of
the cafeteria and playground, the management of
office referrals and the interface between the school
and the juvenile justice system.
Select chapters of Positive Classroom
Discipline
that are not included in Tools for Teaching
are available to read online here.
