Tools for Teaching is a 3 day workshop that combines all the facets of Discipline, Instruction and Motivation into a complete classroom management system.

Topics include:

  • Using mobility and proximity to prevent problems
  • Replacing helpless handraisers with time on task
  • Replacing time wasting with time on task
  • Improving work habits
  • Raising standards while reducing stress
  • Setting limits in a calm, non adversarial manner
  • Replacing sanctions with cooperation
  • Turning "problem students" around

This is the newest and nicest full service hotel with all the dependable Hilton anemities. It is about 5 miles to the Civic, a short, easy hop on the freeway, so a car is necessary. This is a great rate for this hotel in the summer!

This was formerly a Holiday Inn. It’s well located to downtown restaurants, shops & about 1 mile to the Civic.

This is a basic motel, with less quality than the above hotels, but it’s very scenically located on active West Cliff Dr. It’s steps to the beach, restaurants, & about 1 mile to the Civic.
If you’d like an ocean view, ask the motel for a rate.

Airport Options

The closest airport is San Jose International. The drive is 45 minutes from the airport to Santa Cruz. The San Francisco International Airport is about a 90 minute drive.

Parking at the Workshop

Parking in downtown Santa Cruz will have you feeding meters during breaks if you don't find the surrounding parking lots. Here is a link to the parking options in downtown Santa Cruz.

A $100.00 per person fee will be assessed for no-shows or cancellations
within one week prior to the conference, to cover our catering costs.

You will receive a map with directions and additional conference information two weeks prior to the conference. Please contact us with an email address you access during the summer and a home address so we can ensure you get this information. If you haven't received this map one week prior to the conference, please contact us during the workweek.
